Flooding in our region resulting in multiple road closures, including in Somerset County.

In some cases, according to residents and officials, waters appear to be receding, but officials also say there's still more to come.

They say multiple flood calls came in Tuesday morning from concerned residents, many of whom were greeted with flooded basements.

The Salisbury-Elk Lick school district dismissed early due to potential flooding on local roadways.

According to Somerset county EMA officials, sections of Mount Davis Road, Large Street, Mason Dixon Highway, Glade City and Pine Hill Road are still closed, as of Tuesday.

Somerset County EMA director Joel Landis says he and others were involved with operations both in Somerset County as well as in Fayette County.

Landis uses the saying “turn around, don’t drown," reminding others to not underestimate a few shallow puddles. “You never know what’s underneath the roadway, the bridge could be washed out. Vehicles are very light these days and can be swept away very quickly." Landis says.

Landis advises travelers to go to the 511PA website for up-to-date road closure announcements.
