Chick-fil-A staff call cops on woman in drive-thru DUI with child in car

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WJAC) Police say a State College woman is facing charges after employees at a Chick-fil-A told officers they thought she was under the influence of marijuana when she drove through the drive-thru with her 2-year-old child in her car.

Police say a State College woman is facing charges after employees at a Chick-fil-A told officers they thought she was under the influence of marijuana when she drove through the drive-thru with her 2-year-old child in her car.

According to a criminal complaint, 27-year-old Chelsea Vacich is facing a felony count of endangering the welfare of a child and several misdemeanors related to driving under the influence.

Officers were called to the Chick-fil-A on North Atherton Street in Patton Township Oct 3. after restaurant staffers said they suspected Vacich was driving under the influence of marijuana with her child in the car.

Staff members told police that they believed Vacich was under the influence of marijuana because of the smell and the way she was acting while using the drive-thru, the complaint says.

When police arrived at the restaurant, they found Vacich inside her vehicle parked in the parking lot of the Chick-fil-A and her child in the back with no child safety seat.

Police say the officers could smell marijuana, and found a vape pen with suspected THC oil and a glass jar with suspected marijuana flakes inside, which Vacich denied were hers.

Police say Vacich performed unsatisfactorily in a field sobriety test, so she was arrested and taken for a blood draw, which found THC in her system.

Vacich was released on $7,500 unsecured bail.
