Windber, PA (WJAC) — A pizza shop owner from Somerset County decided to start a campaign that would bring smiles to the faces of his customers. He believes a simple act of kindness can bring the community together.
“Windber and the Johnstown area are filled with kind and brilliant people and we wanted to show that in some sort of way,” says Mimo’s Pizza owner Pino Gallina. “People out there are good and they mean well.”
A blue piece of paper and a free pizza are spreading joy throughout Windber and surrounding areas.
“When they get the pizza, the note shows that they are loved and we support everyone,” Gallina says. “We just ask that they do the same thing -- pay it forward in any way they can think of. They can share the pizza with anyone they want or they can eat the pizza themselves.”
Gallina says paying it forward is an easy way to give back to customers and spread joy in a world he says can be full of negativity.
“I got the idea online on social media to pay it forward,” Gallina says. “So, what better way to do so then to give Mimo's Pizzas out to random people?”
Wednesday, Gallina gave a pizza away to an unsuspecting customer.
“It feels good, customer Bill Georg says. “I have done it one time myself but it was probably two years ago but never had it happen to me.”
Then, Georg decided he wanted to pay it forward right away. He paid for another customer's meal, causing a chain reaction of smiles and promises to spread positivity and joy in the community.
“Somebody did it for me, made me happy today,” Georg says. “So, I want to do that for someone else too.”
Gallina says it’s such simple acts of kindness that can change the world.
